Julien and Marie chose to get married right in the heart of the Bayonne Ferias , and it became one of the wildest, most unforgettable celebrations I’ve ever orchestrated.
Imagine this: 150 guests dressed in white and red, blending seamlessly into a sea of hundreds of thousands of festayres wearing the exact same colors. A living, breathing crowd. A moving stage. A marriage inside a festival inside a legend.
And yes: everything was a challenge.
Vendor availability, transport, traffic, navigating streets overflowing with energy… the entire logistical puzzle was set to “expert mode”.
But the rest?
Pure joy. Pure thrill. Pure magic.
The civil ceremony itself was historic: Julien and Marie were interviewed by the press and even invited by the mayor to the City Hall balcony, addressing a cheering crowd of spectators, a moment that made their wedding unlike any other.
At the exit of the City Hall, the couple danced Sevillanas, then the celebration flowed through the streets, wandering among the festival’s vibrant parades and street animations, fully immersing themselves and their guests in the energy of the Ferias.
Lunch took place in a tiny, charming local Basque associative bar, a simple street-food-style meal that reflected the authenticity of the region and the spirit of togetherness.
Later, the festivities moved to a picturesque traditional Basque farm (baserri) just outside Espelette:
- The cocktail featured Jamon Ibérico sliced by Marie’s father, a nod to Spain, and was brought to life by a troupe of 10 gypsy guitarists, creating an animated, joyful atmosphere,
- The main dinner was 100% vegan, honoring the lifestyle of their friends, while being very chic and flavorful,
- The next-day brunch was an epic send-off, curated by an exceptional catering team that made the farewell as memorable as the day itself.
Music was the heartbeat of the day, connecting all moments from morning preparations to the next-day brunch. Every element, from Marie’s Spanish heritage to the eco-conscious choices and the circle of friends, created a pure joy, thrill, and magic that lingered in every smile.
